Reflection on the Holocaust

The Holocaust

The Holocaust. Certainly one of the most horrible dozen years in the history of men. The Nazis' domination, Adolf Hitler and his horrible ideology. I can't believe what some poor people have been through. The mistreatment, the hunger, the persecution, their family getting torn apart… The constant fear. Nobody can even begin to imagine what these people have been through.

The Ted Talk touched me deeply. This man, who went through hell and back, opening his heart to the world to say a peace message is a proof that there is still humanity left in the world. I think my personal reflection on the holocaust is pretty clear. If I had been a judge at the Nuremberg trial, I would have sentenced all the Nazi leaders to death, no less. They are guilty of the most horrible crime against humanity ever committed, and in my opinion, death is not severe enough to pay for their crimes. The lives of six million Jews, five hundred thousand Roma, two hundred and fifty thousand disabled people, and three million soviet prisoners of war can never be repaid, nor can it be forgiven.

Still, Eddie Jaku states that he hates no one. He has a mind of steel. He has been to Auschwitz. He saw everything. He felt everything. He suffered, all because of some men who thought they were on top of the world, while they were in fact at its bottom. Mr. Jaku suffered from the most terrible form of injustice on the face of the planet, and he hates NO ONE. I deeply respect him, because I could never be as calm and wise as he is. I would cry, hate, scream and curse every person that would do anything to my family and seek revenge. Eddie had his family removed from him, and he never saw them again. The sadness and frustration he must have felt are beyond any limits. Family is everything, especially going through hard times, and he had to deal with surviving Auschwitz, not getting killed by a soldier in a bad mood, and the loss of his family all alone. This man should be treated like the king he is.

P.S: I'm not sure if this is really what you wanted Miss, but I decided to let my heart speak for this text.

  2. Hi Félix. To be honest, I had no set expectations for this blog post, as I wanted to let your minds flow and for you to create from the heart; which you brilliantly did! I could really feel your torment and your emotions through the reading of your post. Great work! Excellent use of conditionals, by the way ;)

    Elements to improve:
    - You might want to consider editing the first sentences of your post: Certainly one of the most horrible dozen years in the history of men. The nazis' domination. Adolf Hitler and his horrible ideology, The Holocaust.
    - capitalize important events as well as 'Nazi'
    - word choice (got): Eddie got his family removed
